Will you be making a Moleskine/Journal style (not the actual brand) notebook?

Hi Doug,

We'll be launching a new line of notebooks during next year. We'll have Journal style notebooks as well as A4 notebooks too.

I'd like to very much encourage you to put a priority on producing and making available these journal-type (Moleskine-type) books. For professionals and people in business, they are key.

The adhesive of the current Pocket Note is kinda weak. I keep my notebook in my back pocket at work and the pocket note has already separated from the back cover.

Would NeoLabs consider a Ring Pocket Note? That would be awesome.

We had a discussion about the ring pocket note but no decision has been made :(

While of course they are your competition, please take a close look at what the Livescribe people are offering. They've been in business for a while, and while their newest smartpen products are less attractive than yours, you can indirectly use their experience in determining what the market needs are, especially when it comes to the notebooks. Know Your Competition! In this particular case, it will help. Specifically, I do recommend, unless you've already done so, that you buy one of each of their notebook types to see how they are bound and made. The Moleskin-style (journal style) ones are particularly good, functional, and sturdy -- as well as reasonably good looking, too.

+1 for A4 notebooks. I am exremly happy to hear you will be making those. The ones available now are just too small for my purpose.

... and please change the ring size of the notebooks with your next production charges. They are currently very big and I would prefer smaller ones. When my hand is writing on a page where the rings are on the same side they interferes a lot and I often lose a column of 1-2 cm of unwritable area nearby the rings.

I agree, I would love to use this product at work, but I need something a bit more professional. I'd like to see something like a moleskin journal made available with at least 120 pages per book, in 9-1/4" x 7-1/4" size, no less.

Hello,

I was wondering if there are any plans to make a Moleskine/Leuchtturm1917/Rhodia style hard bound journal lined or dotted notebook?

I see the new notebooks you've released and can see them being good for a lot of circumstances (I have a bunch of Ring Note'books at the moment) but they are all very utilitarian in look. I hate to say they look cheap because they don't, they are quality paper and the covers and bindings are of the same quality as other stationary from Mead and the like. But they don't have the refined look that Moleskine and others have. I use mine for work and like to have a good, sturdy, leather bound journal for it.

If you are not currently considering it would you consider doing a Kickstarter campaign around it? That way there is minimal risk for Neo.Lab and if the demand is there it'll be a no brainer... You could even team up with an existing stationary company like Livescribe did with their branded Moleskine notebook. Leuchtturm just made custom notebooks for a Kickstarter campaign done for Bullet Journaling ( http://goo.gl/iVKscb ) so they would probably be game for doing another with such a successful Kickstarter project as the N2... The bullet journal campaign only raised around 70K while you guys obviously did over a quarter of a million dollars...

Doug,

Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

We are always looking at new types and sizes of paper for our customers.

We hear your suggestion on a hard bound journal.

Stay tuned :)

I second Doug's excellent suggestion to look at what others have successfully done. This is not an area you need to innovate much. The stuff that Livescribe produces as notebook is very high quality and very professionally looking. I also second Doug's point about professional look. You REALLY need to get this addressed soon.

Forgot I posted this and reposted another request here... Suggested that they try a Kickstarter campaign to gauge interest. I think it would be there...

Great! Thank you!!

  1. Can you post a few pictures, so we can get a sense of what they look like?
  2. What colors for the covers will you have available?
  3. What bundles (packages) will you have available?
  4. What is the pricing (in USD)? [in other words, do you have a pricesheet you can share?]

Looking forward to receiving the info.  :)

Hello,

We will release 2 new journal style notebooks shortly.  We expect them to be available on Amazon in 2 weeks or so.

The first journal is our Professional mini.  This is a 90mm x 140mm 200 page journal with an expandable pocket in the back and elastic enclosure band (to keep the journal securely closed) and a bookmark.  The first 100 pages are ruled and the second 100 are plain.

The second journal is our Professional.  This is 140mm x 205 and like the mini has an expandable pocket, elastic enclosure band and bookmark.  The professional has 256 pages of which the first half are ruled and the 2nd half blank.

Both journals feature a "hardbound" Black cover.

Pricing has not been announced yet.

Regards

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I am very much looking forward to the release on April 28th, 2015 on Amazon.com.

A couple of quick comments, ahead of actually seeing the product or its picture:

  • This 100 pages ruled + 100 pages blank is very unusual, and truly goes against the cultural norms, at least in the USA. Here, we have either ruled or blank page books, but rarely ever combined. Your choice is very unfortunate, and clearly made without a real examination of the market. I urge you to reconsider, and truly add purely ruled and purely blank books. You're simply narrowing your market in the USA this way. As I said elsewhere, just watch what your competition is doing here, and learn.

  • What color(s) are the covers. Any choices?

Thank you.

Sorry, issues with posts this morning.

2 weeks or so was my comment so April 28th is NOT an announced date  :)

As Henry Ford once said, "you can have it in any color so long as it's Black."  Our covers are Black.

As for lined and blank, we have actually given great thought to the design of our paper products.  As with any paper product it will meet some users needs and not meet others.  The great news is we will have many selections that our customers can choose from.  I think over time you will see our offerings very attractive.

Regards
