I'm considering an N2 to help me organize my writing and journaling. I'm wondering if someone would be willing to give me an idea of how the N2 might support this process. I use Windows 8.1, a Nexus 5 Android phone, and am technically literate. But somehow I fell in love with longhand writing this year and doubt I'll ever fully go back.
I write longhand (I'm picky about notebook size and the N2 Spring is perfect), often without my computer, but I have an Android phone with me most of the time so I don't mind that being my primary interface on the entry side. Then later, I read the text into an audio recording, adding and editing as I go to create a second draft. Sometimes I transcribe my longhand writing directly into the Windows computer with Dragon NaturallySpeaking, but often I will record my voice speaking the text into an audio file on my phone, upload the audio later, and have Dragon transcribe it into text in the background. After the entries are in the computer, I'd rather not have to use the notebook again as all my organizing and editing from then on is done on the computer, but if there is an audio file I like to hang onto it.
Can anyone help me understand what my process might look like using the N2 and where it will help?
I'm looking for something that will help me both organize pages of writing on different topics/projects, associate them with audio voice notes, and have them all stored on the computer for later retrieval and transcription. (I'm already an Evernote user). It would be nice if I could combine pages into entries as usually they are multiple pages; add text/audio to pages I've already written on later. I do not need automatic transcription - a visual of my handwriting would be sufficient, though it might be very useful to annotate that entry with searchable text.
With the N2, can I associate audio files somehow with an entry or page, and have access to it on my Windows Computer to drop it into Dragon?
I know the N2 audio is not attached at the word level but I don't think I need audio connected at the word level, just associated between the piece of writing and the recording.
I often go back and forth between a journal and a writing notebook - am I right to understand the N2 can tell which notebook I'm using? And which page I'm adding something to?
Thanks!
